The 120 hour tefl course has given us a clear understanding of the specific knowledge, skills and techniques that are necessary to become a successful teacher of english as a second language. The materials delineating the dynamics of the classroom, and the teacher’s roles as model, mentor, and a positive, forward-looking instructor have been helpful. Preparations of lesson plans with the Engage-Study-Activate format have been an important part of our learning process, and have enabled us to envision ourselves as teachers of english in a classroom setting . The course work has provided a systematic and solid grounding in the fundamentals of grammar, presented a coherent and meaningful teaching philosophy, and brought to our attention a variety of methods, tools and techniques which should prove most valuable in the classroom.
