This course has exposed me to a wide range of tools and understanding concerning the art of teaching english to all types of students. Personally, I have gained confidence in what I know of the language itself as well as how to approach a classroom of learners. Through this course I have become more familiar with the parts of speech and grammar rules. I have been introduced to and have acquired a basic understanding of the science of pronunciation and how to help students improve their own. This course has allowed me to imagine being in various classroom settings and plan lessons based on the knowledge of some of the best practices tried and proven among the top efl educators.
I plan to take what I have learned through this course into my future classroom experiences of teaching english. I look forward to conducting a simple ESA lesson in my classroom and observing how it plays out and how I can adapt my plan based on the many ideas and theories I have learned. I realize students are different everywhere you go, so I am thankful for the wide range of tools and methods I am now equipped with as a result of this course. I am planning to continue one-to-one courses in the future and I would like to try some new methods with my students, such as: not settling for simply conversational practice, but using a theme and method of teaching something alongside the conversation; I would also like to incorporate more regular pronunciation techniques and practices into my teaching sessions.
