This course made me realize just how much I didn't know about the english language, which is irony in its purest form considering that I teach english at two universities. The course also taught me the real value of fluency, and the importance of keeping students productively engaged in lessons. I learned about lesson planning, which is something I never really do at the college level, teaching using various media, and explaining english to lower level students (I used some of what I learned in this course toward the benefit of the remedial english classes I teach). As a result of this course, I have a better understanding of language usage and analysis, teaching theory and application, methodology and, the most important and relevant for me, how to present and explain new vocabulary words. I will use all of the learning gained in this course to improve my career in the field of education, and better prepare my students to become functional writers and speakers of the english language.
