I was a teacher for nearly a year before I took this course. Before taking the course, I've never had any training in being a teacher. I was simply very observant in my classes in school and have a true passion for education. My first year was rather rocky and I had to learn a lot of things the hard way, such as correctly using materials, classroom control, how to address little children, and how to structure a class, even though all I had to do was follow a book and do so many pages per day. What I've learned the most from this course is how to manage a classroom and structure a lesson. I've already put some of what I've learned into action in my classroom as I began my second year of teaching. Some of the grammar units have also proved to rather valuable to my classroom as I've been asked about the zero article and had to do a full couple of lessons on the reported to direct speech. A lot of the other grammar units have assisted me in truly understanding how, and more importantly why, grammar is formed and used in english and I've been able to translate this information into my everyday classes.
