I personally gained a lot from the methodologies, teaching strategies and some grammar units. I have been studying
english since I was in pre-school as is the norm in the
philippines and I have been teaching it for years so most of the grammar units did not really come as new to me but rather excellent refreshers. I found the teaching strategies and methodologies units to be extremely significant and useful because those are two things which I would absolutely
apply in my profession as a
teacher. I am certain that this course helped me draw the line between being a typical
teacher and an
esl/
efl teacher. I fully realized the advantages that would lead to great success in teaching
english as a foreign/second language equipped with all the learning I’ve gained from this course.
I will
apply what I have learned from the units by first learning about the culture of the country where I teach
efl. When I settle with a school/institution, I will then get to know my students, establish rapport with them and get to know their language levels and what their purposes are for learning
english. Upon accomplishment of the said tasks, I will be able to furnish a structured and organized set of lessons, come up with significant activities and determine useful materials based on the ESA lesson planning format for my students. I intend to put what I have learned into practice as foundation for my
tefl career meaning I will teach as I pursue further studies related to the field to keep me up-to-date with current teaching trends and improve myself as an
esl/
efl teacher.
