I feel I have personally gained both confidence and some indispensable tools to begin my journey as a tefl teacher. I feel the most key learning I have gained from this course is lesson planning. This will be a crucial tool for me in preparation and execution of lessons. It will ensure that I am ready to deliver a well thought-out and prepared lesson, that will hopefully be effective and valuable to my students. I have also gained greatly from the grammar units, as I learned correct english grammar application through natural learning of the language, rather than by studying grammar in a direct or systematic way. Therefore the units have given me terminology and explanations for the grammar, that I did not have before. That said, I understand that the grammar covered in the course is just the tip of the iceberg and there is still much more for me to learn to be a competent grammar instructor. The course has also given me an insight into different teaching ideas and techniques, such as how to adapt my approach to teach young children, and how to manage behavioural issues in the classroom. This information is invaluable to me as I have never taught before. I plan to put into action what I have learned, by attempting to find students to teach one-to-one, and basing my approach to preparation and execution of the lesson on the information provided in the course units. I will refer to the course units and lesson plans I have submitted for ideas, as well as other materials, such as online resources and books for teachers. I think this will be a challenging journey for me, but I at least feel that I now have some sound ideas on how to approach the lesson planning aspect, which I think will be key.
