Personally, I have learned a great deal from this course. Before I started this course I did not know about lesson planning and how vital it is to the structure of the class and for the students. I thought that lessons were probably all pre-planned with the course books and it really depends on the personality of the teacher to make the learning process fun. If I wouldn’t have taken this course, I know I wouldn’t have been anywhere close to prepared for taking on classes. The units have taught me about classroom dynamics and how to handle correcting students and students at different levels of learning. I have also seen growth in myself as I look back at the very first lesson plan I put together (outside of this course) and I can already see how far I have come from there. The structure of lessons help the flow of understanding, and it makes sense to me now. I know I still have a lot to do in developing myself as a good teacher, but as I look back on what I have learned from this course, it has given me a solid foundation and confidence in becoming something great. I want to make sure that as I go on from this course and into teaching overseas that I continually challenge myself and remind myself of the things I have learned in this course. I am actually planning on keeping these units and DVDs with me so I have something to refer back to if I find difficulties in the future. I feel as though this course has provided me with the tools I have needed (techniques to consider in certain situations, how to handle certain classroom dynamics, how to go about teaching certain topics, etc.) in order to tackle my future goals as a teacher. I look forward to becoming a teacher who makes learning fun and easy for her students in her lessons. I will continue to work hard at developing my lesson plans and always seek to make them better.
