This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This first thing that this course has taught us is how to prepare for a lesson. Planning for a lesson is imperative and will enable the teacher to provide an interesting and productive lesson.
It has also taught us that being a native english speaker does not necessarily make you a good teacher. It has shown us that there is more to a lesson than meets eye.
There are many different structures that a lesson can take and this course has shown us how to implement these structures. Watching the DVD of the good and bad lesson showed us how we would like to teach and how to get the most out of your learners. It has shown us how to arrange a class and how to place stronger learners with weaker ones during class activities.
The course has also taught us the difference between teaching adults and children. It has shown us how to approach the different types of learners and how to respond to their strengths and weaknesses. It has taught us how to engage the learners and ensure that they are having fun while they are learning as this will allow them to absorb more information with little distraction.
From english grammar to classroom management, we feel that this course has put us in a good position to be exciting and effective teachers.
