Although I have been using english for many years, going back to the basics is an eye-opening episode. I may be familiar with tenses, grammar and vocabulary, I found that there is so much more to it. Phrases, clauses, phrasal verbs have been used without much thought. Yes, I have benefitted much from this course because I have become more aware of the way the syntax is put together. I have also benefitted from the research and reading needed for some portion of the coursework. The hunt for information on the www has yielded a vast expense of knowledge (real gems) concerning english. Yes, kudos too to my tutor, Peter (Hi, you may/ may not be reading this: I truly am thankful for your guiding patience. Thx, from the bottom of my heart.) Going forward, I have a mission trip in Myanmar this September and am keen to work with some teachers (a Swedish couple and an American) to start Literacy classes for the children. At the home front, I will look for opportunities to go into some social enterprise (teaching, training, curriculum development) and some work from home ventures to fund the more noble causes. Yes, this course sets the pace. I have decided to pick up Phonics and the IPA.
