Studying and working through this course, I have learned a lot of valuable teaching; english grammar, composition, and structure; classroom management and logistics; and students levels and needs. I think it is very valuable for teachers to take a course similar to this as it gives them the tools necessary to be successful english teacher domestically and internationally. Many teachers of english teaching for the first time often may not have experience and knowledge of the kinds of issues and challenges with teaching non-english speaking learners. There are a lot of communication, cultural, and personal language exposure (or lack of it) for many of these learners so it is vital for teachers to have some kind of training such as the one offered in this course so they can have prior knowledge and preparation in teaching especially in the students' home country. Also, some novice teachers may not have as much knowledge about in-depth english grammar, conversation, and writing even though they are native speakers so they need some kind of formal training like this course to give them the skills and training to improve and learn how to be a better teacher. This course was very valuable for me and I plan to use this course as I am currently teaching abroad for a second year. I learned and experienced many of the challenges outlined in the course and I plan to utilize the advice given from the course and apply it in my current english teaching position. I plan to utilize many of the teaching techniques for activities to supplement and edit the textbook that we use in order to adjust to students' needs and interests. Also, the classroom management techniques, I plan to use to effectively run my class to minimize distractions and maximize learning. I also will use many of the techniques in diagnosing or measuring students' comprehension and language level to come up with appropriate material and preparation for lessons. Overall, the coursework was interesting, informative, organized. The tutoring assistance/guidance provided me the one-on-one attention that was necessary to measure my progress, understanding, and to ensure the problems or challenges I faced were identified and addressed so I could continue on with the course with confidence that I had learned the previous lessons.
