Without question, the greatest benefit to me from this course was the concept of ESA lesson planning. I have quite a bit of experience teaching and have done something similar to that in the past. But it was never very intentional. This outline provides a very good basis for which I can make all of my future lesson plans. This will make the plans much more efficient and productive. Rather than just doing things on the fly and arranging them in my own mind, it gives me a framework by which I can make more detailed and productive plans for the future. In addition, the grammar lessons were very helpful to me. I thought the lessons were well written and very simple. That is what students of english need, simple and effective explanations of grammar points. While I am a native speaker of english, I often don't know how to explain certain grammar points in an effective way to the students. Two specific things about this course provided me a great deal of help in that area. First, as I already stated, the lessons were written very well and very simply. It allowed me to see nuances of the language that I had forgotten. Second, the fact that we had to explain each grammar point on the worksheet was also extremely helpful. Not only will it provide a good reference for future use, but it also forced me to think through certain aspects of the grammar that I would not have thought through otherwise. This experience will greatly benefit me in the future as I attempt to explain these grammar points to my students. Lastly, I have gained a wealth of information and examples that I can use in my class. The lessons were full of games/activities that can be utilized in an english classroom. They are organized well and placed in PDF form which will be very easy to access. As I am planning lessons and coming up with activities, a quick check into the folder where each of the lessons are now stored will be incredibly helpful in planning games and activities for my students.
