Even though I fast-tracked this course, I really enjoyed it (well, not making the lesson plans, but I can see how useful they'd be in class).
I especially enjoyed learning the grammar rules for a language I already speak! I've often thought that I could just teach english since I know how to speak, I'm a college graduate, how hard could it be, blah, blah, blah, but this course was a real eye opener. During my own elementary and college education, french was always my favorite subject; so much so that I took Latin, spanish and italian as well. My french teachers stood out as being passionate and efficient and I recognize some of the techniques they used in this course.
Last year I taught several classes in film editing, which has been my day job for years. Although I know how to edit inside and out, lesson structure and classroom management were a big challenge at the beginning. When I teach that course again in the spring, I'll be sure to integrate many of these techniques. I only wish I'd know them earlier.
I hope to teach english as a foreign language one day, and strongly wish to be an inspiring and effective teacher. Learning can be fun, and I'd like to help students both master the english language, and have an enjoyable experience doing so. Thanks to what I've learned here--and hope to continue learning in paris--I'm confident that can be possible.
