I feel I have gained a confidence in teaching english that I never possessed before. I had taught off and on quite a bit over the years. I had used a host of course books and various approaches. But I was never really convinced of the effectiveness of any method. I always sought out the right method, the best course book, the most effective way to teach. I never really hit on any way that I was satisfied with. That I felt the students could really learn with. As a result I had pretty much given up on teaching english. I just wasn't effective. Having taken the course and learned the ESA method, I feel I could pretty much tackle any group or level. Not only that, I now have a plan that I can follow and be effective. It has given me a style and method to teach that I am confident will help me to hit the nail on the head each time. There will still be challenges, but now I look forward to confronting them. And I know I can succeed with the ESA pattern. It only took me all these years to find it! Ha! The way I plan to put what I learned into action is by teaching in china. I have made arrangements to teach there by the middle of next year. I will also be studying chinese and that will help me to understand what my students have to go through!
