It has refreshed my knowledge on the english language! I was surprised at how hard I had to work on some of the grammatical units given that I am a fluent speaker! Makes me appreciate the care I need to take when teaching it.
I have learnt how to break down a skill / component of the language and present it in many different ways through study and activate phases. Despite having finished the course I do feel quite daunted at the prospect of teaching my own class of language students! I think the onsite course would be of greater benefit for having opportunities to practice. I am fortunate to have many thai friends who are keen to learn so will have some practice opportunities before starting work.
I will use what I have learnt for structuring lessons and the ideas for activities on different phases. I hope my first job is one that comes with a course book and outline, as I feel a little lost in where to start! But I'm sure once I start it will all fall into place.
I think a very important aspect is to keep the lessons student centered and to ensure that you are focusing on their needs.
