I have gained a lot from this course, both personally and professionally. Personally, I feel I have gained the most from the grammar sections of this course as I now feel more confident when I teach grammar to students. I especially like being able to teach grammar to students in a fun way by using games in the Activate stages of my lessons.
Other things I have gained from this course are: some knowledge of efl methodologies; new classroom management tips; lesson planning tips and template; tips for teaching receptive (reading and listening) and productive skills (speaking and writing); tips for teaching pronunciation and phonology; an awareness of the phonemic alphabet; tips for tests and evaluations; tips for teaching special groups; how to do needs analysis'; tips for teaching children and adults; and tips for teaching monolingual and multilingual classes.
Importantly, this course has also helped me realize that I enjoy teaching children, especially young learners', rather than adults (which I had the opportunity to teach whilst completing this course).
Professionally, this course has helped me review and improve my teaching skills. I have been teaching english as a foreign language for 3.5 years and it feels good to learn new things (get a fresh perspective), get feedback and improve my skills (which also increases my employability). The other thing I have gained from this course is the convenience to study whilst I work and to then put what I have learnt (while it is still fresh in my mind) into practice in the classroom. Lastly, I plan to use the information I have learned in this course to secure a better job.
