I have been refreshed on my own language, serving as a constant reminder that there's always going to be room to learn and improve, and that as much as you're sure of something – you may not actually know. The important thing, most of all, is that you're absolutely sure that you know the subject you're teaching. That way, any error on your part is not transferred to another, and no one is inheriting your mistakes (it's happened before). I feel the lesson planning in this course has given me the ground work when orchestrating the setup of my teaching approach. Since teaching can be an overly thought out (and sometimes stress inducing) process, I was pleased to find that chapter nine laid down the groundwork by introducing a template as well as the importance of the tempo of developing lesson plans. In teaching, even the
teacher learns, and as much as you know the subject at hand, it's useless without a proper foundation to structure it on. My family opened up a daycare back in 1993 during a crucial financial stage in life. As years went by through my observance, progressing help, and eventual full on teaching – I found that teaching as an overall difficult process, and nearly impossible without a proper approach. On top of that, it's a juggling act that observes human functionality with a written plan and schedule that is constantly improving. When I was in junior college, I began tutoring international students. I suppose I was familiar with the anxiety of best articulating one's self through the use of
english, and that it's rather empowering to be able to best express yourself. As I grew from a young child to a mature adult, it became more and more apparent that people are the same everywhere, and there's a lot of communication of which does not use any
english at all. The course has helped me rekindle just how important it is to establish things outside of just teaching
english: establishing rapport; explaining through body language an idea; paying close attention to expressions; paying close attention to the interactions of groups, and the actions of individuals. Next month I'll be flying to
china to teach
english. Having a
tefl certification proves affective in showing employers that I am worthy enough to be considered for a teaching position. I would like, much as I'd be teaching my students, cultivating a strong point that may be exemplified in my further advances in life.
