I have learned proper grammar, tenses, the needs of different learners, from young learners to business learners, the reasons people learn english (job, for fun, to communicate with family abroad, to do well in school, interest in the language or an english speaking culture). I have learned how to make a lesson plan, how to structure my lessons to start with something to Engage the students' interest in the lesson, give them time to Study, and Activate what they have learned. I learned about not only the ESA structure but also Patchwork ESA and Boomerang ESA. I learned to plan ahead, I learned about the different types of materials I should use (whether they are made for students or made for native speakers), as well as what technology may/may not be available to me in the classroom. I plan to use what I learned to maximize my students' experiences by first learning about them, keeping my lessons interesting and making sure to have plenty of visual aids. I will give worksheets, and lots of partner work (which I did not previously know was so beneficial to students). Through this program I got to see a good teacher in action (as well as a bad one!) This way I have a little idea about how things ought to be done in the classroom, what a lesson should look like, how I should act in front of the room when I give a lecture, and how I should monitor students while they are working. Overall this program has been an enriching experience and adds greatly to my classroom management knowledge.
