I have personally gained the invaluable basic knowledge of the tense system and how it is build. I read books in english, I see movies and television shows and write in my native language but I never had any reason to question the way the the sentences are built and/or why. So that has definitely been an interesting and very valuable experience/task for me. The next thing I consider to be immensely valuable, is the general awareness of how much you as a teacher (along with or behavior and/or mindset) influence the classroom. The atmosphere/dynamic within the room also highly depends on what is and/or who is put before the class of students. I can understand the perspective of people (teachers) having a bad day or even having a bad phase but that is not the business of the students who come to class and want/need to be educated. We're all human beings with issues of our own and that is exactly where they should stay while we are dealing with matters inside the classroom. Separating private matters from professionals and not having them influence the atmosphere/dynamic of the lesson is another responsibility of the teacher. Students issues however, if they are noticeably hindering his/her progression or the classroom dynamic, should be addressed in a 1:1 talk/feedback after the class/lesson. That is also a great part of a teachers responsibility. I think I have learned, how much the teacher influences the academic pathway of a student and how he/she can have a positive effect on the students learning behavior and success. Someone who is responsive and open to his/her pupils will likely be ask for help and/or repetition. The student will generally be more receptive when he/she feels like the classroom is a place for study and concentration but also for fun and engaging activities. A place that is safe, where he/she also feels respected. There are too many people nowadays who aren't (or at least don't show) their empathic side towards others. This includes the teacher–student relationship. I think the sentence “Treat others the way you want to be treated” applies very well to the classroom and the two 'opposites' (teacher-student/student-teacher perspective). I have gained interesting knowledge about different tools (games/materials etc) that one can use which are vital for an interesting and stimulating lesson. I would integrate a lot of authentic and creative material (along with the coursebook material) to bring as much of the 'real' world into the classroom. I have gained a lot of valuable information for me as a future teacher but also generally as a human being. Positivity and accuracy/effectiveness can go hand in hand. I think as soon as I step into my first lesson (applying the techniques to reality) I will be able to fully comprehend and notice what and how much I have learned throughout this intensive and substantial online course.
