english is my first language and although I know how to speak it, I have never had a full understanding of formation of tenses, modal auxiliary verbs, conditionals, active and passive voice, reported speech, phonology, etc. I knew what was correct and incorrect in speaking and writing the english language, but this course has illuminated the 'whys' of formation and structure. I now understand that knowing the rules of the language is not only important for everyday usage, but also crucial to the instruction of the english language to foreign language students. This course has additionally instructed on teaching methods and activities which will be immensely useful once I have secured a job teaching english to students. I hope very soon to move to Korea and put this knowledge to use teaching young learners the english language to improve their language skill set as well as my own understanding of other cultures and the world.
