This unit was very helpful as it demonstrated everything I have previously learnt regarding the relationship between the students and the teacher. It has made me realise that the participation and enthusiasm of the teacher is crucial for the students to learn successfully as it will help them to be/stay motivated and to feel comfortable when learning a new language. Learning a new language might be quite scary to some so the teacher must make sure that he/she is not intimidating the learners or diminishes their intellectual level just because they do not understand certain words or phrases. This unit has also emphasised the fact that the use of mime and gestures can be very helpful as it can be a common ground understood by both the teacher and the students.
