The present tense is an important concept in english grammar and consists of four distinct forms. First is the present simple form which is primarily used for habitual actions or unchanging situations. Second is the present continuous form which describes actions in progress or nearly in progress. Third is the present perfect form which describes past actions happening at an indefinite time and past actions with a continuing influence or affect on the present. Lastly is the present perfect continuous form which lets us say how long we've been doing an incomplete and on-going activity or recently finished activities which affects the present.
