I think what I gained the most benefit from was the grammar sections. I did not know a lot about the tenses and grammar rules – and now I do. I have already put this knowledge to use by doing 2 separate lessons – one on present simple and the other on present continuous – for second grade high school students. I also liked learning about modals and passive voice. All the grammar learned will help me greatly with questions from the foreign english teachers. I will put to use the many ‘Engage’ ideas from Unit 3. Unit 15 was good about Evaluation and Testing. I will start doing Diagnostic Testing when appropriate and I have already done a progress test – and let me add the students didn’t do very well. Usually I do not give the students tests, nor do I take part in making their tests – though I do proofread the tests. I also thought Unit 13 on teaching Pronunciation & Phonology was interesting – it’s a good thing to have in your back pocket. On the whole – all the grammar is by far the biggest thing I’m taking away from the class.
