I have gained confidence from this course. Being a native english speaker I take for granted what I know, but having the certification (once I get it!), under my belt I now feel ready to start putting tefl into action. The course formally explain the structure and forms of grammar, which was important for me as although I knew why I said or wrote something in a particular way I now have the understanding as to the reasons why, so I can explain them to students more clearly. It was also useful to recap a lot of the teaching methods as although I believe a lot of it is common sense, it is good to have the ‘best practices' refreshed in my mind.
At this time I am looking to work with businesses with tefl, here in Sao Paulo, brazil, so as I was going through the course my mind was relating the topics to this aim and hence I'm also looking forward to the follow-on 'Teaching business english' course. However, knowing how to structure classes with ESA methods for any students is useful, as it gives me another option if I want to look to teach english to a wider community.
