I have to say, I had not really known what to expect from this course before I started, and I had no idea about teaching either– my only experience is being a student at school and language courses. Therefore, I was positively surprised by learning a very new approach where finally focus is completly on the students. The careful lesson planning and the different stages of ESA lessons are all new to me, and finally I understand how it could be possible to motivate students and how to get them to use english during the whole class. I learned plenty of practical things and tips which can be very useful once I start teaching, just like games, activities etc. But the most important thing is that I got a student centered outlook and a whole new idea and understanding of teaching a language.
Since I am not a native speaker, it was also quite useful to go trough the basic language structures and gramatics, including teaching ideas.
This course has made me really enthusiastic and just can't wait to try everything I learned in practice. I would especially like to teach children, which I hope I will have an opportunity for.
