This course has taught me what it takes to be a successful teacher. A teacher must be able to think and adapt and be willing to adjust lesson plans and adapt to the students' needs. It is important to consider the culture and background of the students and create a welcoming and fun environment that will encourage students to participate and learn. Motivated and attentive students will learn more than bored students and will make the class more enjoyable to everyone. I also learned a lot about the english language which I had never thought about as a native speaker of the language. Being a native speaker and being able to teach the language to new learners of the language can be very challenging as I have learned while completing the course. It is important to find creative ways to communicate directions for activities so that all students can understand the task at hand. It is also quite a challenge to explain concepts like the difference between verb tenses and other grammar concepts to a student who does not have a complete command of the language. This course has helped me to consider these problems in advance of actually experiencing them in the classroom. As I gain more experience I am confident I will succeed in being able to teach students the english language and this course has certainly given me the foundation for this task.
