Since I have taught students in the past I have some idea of teaching procedures but this course has taught me specifically how to deal with teaching english as a second language. It has made me aware of techniques to employ and ways to keep the interest of the students. I have had to relearn parts of speech and tenses and in turn learn how to teach this to students of different ages and backgrounds. It has also made me aware of all the resources available outside the classroom to use to teach and keep the interest of the students. In addition I have also become aware of just how little I do know about teaching esl however I am anxious to employ what I have learned through this course and affect student's lives positively by their learning, understanding and retaining english in writing, speaking, listening and reading form.
