It is 2:03 AM in the morning as I type this. There is a satisfied smile on my face as I listen to the surreal sounds of Bach’s masterpiece Prelude to Cello Suite No. 1. I would like to start with a couple of less serious observations that I have made. The first observation is that when you procrastinate on your tefl course, you may be spending 15 hour days finishing it, instead of soaking up the sun on your tropical vacation. The second is that one learns the valuable lesson of overcoming procrastination, and that is a beautiful gift.
I studied language acquisition theory in college, and this course has added greatly to that base of knowledge. I have improved considerably in my lesson plan writing abilities. I really love the ESA format and cannot wait to put it to use. I am very impressed with all of the materials; I will come back to them and read them often. It was nice to expand my breadth of knowledge in relation to grammar. As a native speaker, I have always spoken english without a thought, but rarely thought about how it was put together. The training in grammar has been invaluable. My tutor Tania has been absolutely wonderful. I would love to have the depth of her teaching knowledge and I aspire to one day.
Since spending my teenage years living in a beautiful mexican resort town; I have become enamored with living amongst new cultures. I loved casually teaching english to my mexican friends. Because of this, I ended up focusing on related subjects during college. My plan has always been to teach efl after graduation. And this course has started me on yet another epic journey of self-discovery.
I would like to begin in South Korea. Still elated from the extra confidence from this course, I will walk in there and work hard with the aim of becoming an excellent teacher. It is challenging to isolate one specific thing, because I will put everything that I have learned to use as a teacher. I am deeply excited and honored to have the job placement assistance of ITTT. With the help of the company, I am confident that I will land the first of many jobs that will allow me to spend my 20s teaching and exploring the world. I have lived a blessed live, and teaching will allow me to give back to my students. I imagine that I will learn just as much from them as they will from me. I end this course with a happy heart and I am thankful to Tania for her wonderful assistance.
