This course has given me an introduction to the types of lessons I will expect to be teaching in Rio de Janeiro, brazil this coming month. Going into it I definitely thought the majority, if not all, of the units would be strictly grammar based. While a good portion of the units were, I was glad to find out that the course also focused on teaching points and anticipated teacher problems and duties (such as lesson planning).
I have also learned that being an efl teacher takes a lot more than just having the ability to be a native english speaker. As a teacher, there is a lot of pre/post classroom preparation time taken, which is vital in order to run a smooth class where students learn and remember the language.
Along with the fundamental language grammar points, this course has also given me a ton of insight as to what type of material I will be covering as a teacher and the best ways to go about doing so. I plan on putting what I've learned from the course into action when I a go abroad and begin my search for an efl teaching position in brazil.
