I have learned much from the practice I have gained from writing ESA lesson plans. Writing lesson plans is really useful for me because I have a clear idea of what I need to do when I do a class and have clearer goals now because I now consider the learner objectives and clear personal goals because I now consider my personal aims. I struggled before with just the format of a lesson plan now I have confidence. I also like to not use the lesson plan as formatted as the one I have attached just to make the lesson more student centered and I can see that that is an acceptable method as well. I have a better understanding of the intricacies of grammar and have considered more how I use language and my choice of structures in the classroom when I am teaching. The chapter 10 video was very helpful for me about class lesson construction and demeanor of the teacher. I would have enjoyed seeing more video lessons. The lesson gave me a good idea of what a teacher should do in a class and more confidence as a teacher. I had done some of the things that the first lesson of the video had done: looking at a book instead of actively observing the students. Active observation is not just watching the students to make sure work is done but to just be there because this is when students feel comfortable to ask more specific questions. I had never noticed reported speech forms were different so now that I know I have confidence that I could effectively instruct students should I need to in the future. I learned that just thinking of a activity is not enough but that the target language needs to be carefully considered as well. I learned how to actually read the phonological alphabet which I had struggled with before. Overall, I found the general grammar information and the lesson planning very useful and I have learned many new teaching activities. My classes are much more specific to my students needs now.
