I feel I have learned a lot from this course, even though I have been teaching esl for several years. First, I got a lot of benefit out of the grammar sections. I’m one of those people who actually like grammar, and it comes naturally to me, but there’s always something more to learn. I learned more about conditionals, and modals in particular, and had a good refresher course, in general.
More importantly, I learned a lot more about teaching; specifically about creating more space for the students to teach themselves. That is always more effective. I learned a lot more about lesson planning, and how to balance different activities to enhance the learning process.
Taking the course at this point in my career has inspired me to reassess everything we’ve done in the english Prep Year program to date. I feel I will be much more effective in the months to come, Inshallah, as I work to apply what I’ve learned.
