Personally, I have gained an awakening. I have always loved teaching and learning about other cultures in my graduate work; however, I feel more ready with my native language and more aware about others’ needs more than I ever have. Much of my counseling studies have come into play when comprehending this information such as presenting myself in a way that will create an inviting environment for the students. I plan to put into action every ounce of information I gained. I will provide the students with needed clarity, responsibility with lesson planning, encouragement with my words and my body language, diversity with classroom activities and my teaching, a reasonable pace when a lesson is confusing, a syllabus that is flexible, and most of all: a smile on my face!
