This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
• I have gained a great deal from taking this course. Although I am a native english speaker, this course has showed me what I have forgotten about the english grammar. It was a very good refresher (although difficult at times) to practice english grammar again. I can't say I really enjoyed learning it again, but it was definitely useful. Mostly, I have learned various types of teaching skills and different ways to approach new situations in the classroom. I did not study to be a teacher in school, so this course was very helpful at giving examples of how a classroom structure should be run from the teacher's point of view. Planning lessons has helped me develop lesson plans for the class I am currently teaching.
• I plan to use my certificate to teach in foreign countries. Currently I am in South Korea teaching. This school did not require me the tefl, but it has been very helpful for my first month here to have some of the background from this tefl course. I plan to go to other countries, such as Taiwan and china, where many schools want the teachers to have the tefl certification. I plan to take with me all the units I have completed and hopefully be able to apply the techniques I have learned to create a dynamic, exciting lesson for foreign students.
• This class has helped me feel more confident in the classroom. I know there are many different activities that I can do to help the students learn.
