I have learnt a great deal from this course. The grammar units have been very helpful in breaking down parts of speech and planning lessons around these parts of speech. These units have been a refresher for me as I have not studied grammar in detail for a long time.
I have enjoyed planning the lessons and incorporating what I have learnt in them. This unit has been particularly helpful as it has made me reflect more on my own teaching, especially the strategies and activities I use with the esl students in my class.
I particularly liked watching a real teacher in action and looking at the positives and negatives of his teaching strategies. Teaching is such a practical profession and even though the theory must be learnt and practiced it isn't until you step into a classroom that you really start learning.
I plan to travel overseas next year and teach throughout Asia. I know that I will be constantly referring to the work I have done in this course if I do get a position in a school or tutoring individuals.
