This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
• When I made the decision to undertake this tefl course, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. Now that I have completed the course I can say it has proven to be an invaluable experience. I have gained a new appreciation for the english language and it has affected not only how I look at the language but also how I use it in my daily life. The grammatical units in the course have forced me to look at the language from a technical perspective. As a print journalist the english language is the tool with which I work every day. However I now have a new appreciation for how the language mechanically fits together. I have been able to revisit things I learnt as a child about english, and I have also learnt new aspects of the language I had not knowingly been exposed to before. I have also found the teaching methodology units to be enlightening and I feel I now have an understanding of what makes a teacher affective and engaging in the classroom.
• I am looking forward to taking the teaching skills I have learned and putting them into practice in the classroom. But first I have decided to undertake additional tefl certificates and courses so that I may further my knowledge even more. I have also begun reading other resources of english grammar in an effort to expand even further my technical understanding of the language. Armed with these new and invaluable tools and skills, I intend to move to italy where I hope to find work as an english teacher, while also being a student myself and furthering my italian language skills.
