This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Grammar – why we say what we do! From learning spanish I had realised a few of the strange ways of english, but this course really helped me to understand why we say what we do – and it was just a basic introduction to english grammar, which means there is so much more to learn.
Lesson Planning – lots of practice in thinking through how a lesson should run. I still feel I have lots to learn.
Activities – I have quite a few years of volunteer teaching experience and so taking a new topic, and breaking down to teach someone doesn’t really phase me, but I feel I have had my eyes opened to the potential for learning in games/activities. Only thing is that those games or activities have to be well organized, explained, coordinated to be of maximum use. So that’s something I want to take from the course and keep working on in the future.
