I went into this course thinking I knew what tefl was about and got a big shock as the course progressed. One of the main things this course has taught me is how to explain things in detail for people of any learning ability. This course has showed me that I need to improve a lot on my grammar and I personally think that is what I have learned most from it in the sense that I can't teach something that I don't know thoroughly. So I think that the main thing I will be doing long before I step into a classroom is fixing my grammar errors. I will also be using a lot of the teaching methods by volunteering at libraries and local schools as young children are my preference.
The methodology of teaching, using seating arrangements, drilling, being culturally sensitive to age, gender and race and the importance of remaining positive throughout is something that I will take with me through not only my career but my entire life. Becoming a teacher is important to me because I believe that life itself is a learning experience and if I can help make some things clearer for a handful of people, I will be fulfilled.
