The course has definitely been an awareness-raising and supplementary experience for me as a practicing teacher who has yet to obtain a tefl certificate upon the completion of this unit.
I have benefited in numerous ways from this course that examines the key areas of teaching english as a foreign language. Specifically, the grammar units have given me a chance to reflect on and consolidate on my subject knowledge in the english grammar as a non-native english speaker and have provided interesting teaching ideas that I have taken on board; The units featuring tips, suggestions, and guidance are just as helpful, if not more, as my work experience as an efl teacher and will be put into action whenever and wherever possible; The teaching resources (websites, reference books, course books, educational institutions, etc ) featured on those relevant units have already be put in good use and will certainly be of great value down the road.
I am also particularly grateful for the opportunity to work with my tutor who has been a great source of information and confidence throughout the course.
Personally I'd much rather spend my time and energy in action teaching, interacting with students in and out of the classroom than sit high and above giving directions. My career, however, has taken me to a point where I am considering a supervisory position in which I will be able to provide not only academic guidance to new and experienced teachers but also hold the place together organizationally. The teaching expertise I have gained from the course units and feedback I receive from my tutor will prove conducive to my career in foreign language education.
