I was introduced to this course via my father. At first, I had my doubts about this course. It's difficult to motivate yourself to learn without a teacher or classmates. I also had a time limit much shorter than what this course offers so time was against me as well. But having an online tutor was an efficient way to replace having a classroom teacher or doing awkward video chats.
More than anything, this course was a package of great ideas that I will use to enrich my teaching experiences. It had heaps of activities, games, tests, exercise worksheets, etc. that turned on light bulbs. I enjoyed and appreciate the creative, personal approach it took to help me improve my english and teaching skills.
Also, I always felt uneasy about teaching adults because they are so motivated and eager to learn and often ask questions that I cannot answer. With the abundant knowledge I gained, especially on basic grammar, I feel like I can now handle teaching adults as well.
My main reason for taking this course was to better prepare myself for the trip to Korea this summer. Although I am fluent in Korean, I plan to use only english to my students in Korea. I wanted to be well-prepared for the high expectations and intense competition that exist in my country. The various materials this course provided will definitely aid me as I teach english this summer. Especially the ESA lesson plans and advice on teaching monolingual students gave me various ideas that I have added to my book. Over all, I'm more than glad I took this course.
