I have personally gained a base and or platform to stand on in regards to teaching english as a foreign language. I learned why it is the way that I write and speak. In order to teach a language, I believe it is important to have an understanding of how it works grammatically. It’s fine that an instructor knows how to read, write, and speak because they have been surrounded by their language, but if the instructor is teaching esl then I believe that they need a base to start from—so tefl, which supplies that base, is fantastic. The grammar that I have learned and the lesson plan preparation practice is what I plan to put into action during my tefl course instruction. I believe that I will eventually vary the lesson plans and make them more exciting as I become more experienced, but for now, I have the basics understood in addition to many ideologies geared towards tefl instruction.
