TEFL Yixing

This course has been a real eye opener for me. Going into the course, I thought I had a relatively good grasp on the english language and the grammar etc… boy was I in for a rude awakening (haha). I’ve learned so much about the english grammar that I had forgotten about since school, and I know I still have more learning to do and more practicing to do. I was also naive about teaching english; thinking that it wouldn’t be that hard and wondering if a tesol course is really necessary to do the job. Well, let me tell you I am 100% thankful that I decided to take the course as I now see what truly needs to go into teaching and running a successful classroom. It is not as simple as teaching the ABC’s. There is so much to learn; so many helpful techniques to take from this course that will further me a tremendous amount when I begin to teach. I know that had I not taken this tesol course I would not do half as well as I could in teaching english. Just because english is one’s native tongue, does not immediately qualify you to teach it. I think that training and techniques are vital to ensure that successful and proper teaching is done. I plan on printing out every single one of the Units from the course and taking them with me when I go to Taiwan to teach english. I want to use them as guidelines and want to become even more familiarized with tenses and stresses (to name a few). Overall, I have enjoyed the course and feel as though it was worth every penny. It certainly isn’t easy; it requires a lot of study and work but this is all to benefit the students that we will be working with. Not only the students benefit from the qualified teacher, but the teacher benefits! We receive the satisfaction of doing our job well, and producing fulfilling results.
