As a native english speaker, I have learned plenty throughout this course. This course served as a reminder to some forgotten material and helped me expand my knowledge. At times, I felt I did not quite get a handle on the material and had to review it before completing the worksheets. This course helped me refresh my memory on the tenses, modal auxiliary verbs and passive voice.
Some things that I’ve picked up and learned from this course would be the various teaching skills. I am glad to add these skills to my teaching experience. Although most of these techniques and skills are geared more towards teaching english, I believe I will be able to adapt and be able to apply it to the material I’ve learned throughout college.
I am currently a Native english teacher in South Korea. As aforementioned above, this course was a refresher and has given me different insights on how to conduct classes, make lesson plans, pick and choose activities that will best be suitable for certain lessons, etc. In the future, I plan to at least continue tutoring students whose second language is english. To have a tefl certificate is not only a confidence booster, but it also adds to my credentials as a teacher/tutor.
Overall, I feel that the course was very well structured and covered many areas that are necessary when entering a classroom to teach english. It has given me confidence to improve as a teacher. I will definitely utilize the units as valuable references.
