Personally, we have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge on how to teach students, foreign or not. Coming from business backgrounds, we have never been exposed to the rigorous work that teachers have to do in order to be successful at their jobs. The language barrier on top of that certainly adds another level of complexity to the task at hand.
It has also been quite some time since either of us has taken an english language course or even a reminder of the components of the language itself. This was most definitely the most difficult aspect of the course, as we are a bit rusty on the details.
Going forward though, we truly want to put our hard work from this course into action and teach english in a foreign country. Although this course taught us outlines and provided us with the framework of the position, we believe there is a lot more preparation and work to do before becoming successful at the job. The references in the course will be a huge help, as well as all of the feedback we have gotten from our tefl teacher.
