The teacher has to be familiar with all terminology and methodology of language teaching but it's merely the teacher who knows which techniques suit his students best and why. Classic methods such as Audio-Lingual-ism can help students even at advanced levels provided they are used timely and properly. More modern methodology such as task- based language learning and CLL have their own negative and posiyive points. They sure sound much more interesting but might lack feasibility in case the teacher works full time and lacks proper and quality preparation time.
