This unit taught me about parts of speech. It went over the basic parts of speech, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, gerunds, conjunctions, and pronouns. Nouns are people, places, things, states, and qualities. Pronouns are more general words that stand in place of nouns in a sentence. Verbs are words that describe what nouns DO or the states they're in. Adjectives are words that describe nouns. Adverbs are words that describe verbs. Prepositions show the relationships between nouns/pronouns and other words in a sentence. Gerunds are -ing forms of verbs, used as nouns. Conjunctions link two parts of a sentence together, be it a link between clauses or a link between words of the same class (part of speech).
