This unit is about grammar, particularly about the parts of speech. These include nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions. Furthermore, parts of speech can be subdivided into several categories. Firstly, For instance their are many types of nouns such as common, proper, compound, abstract and collective. Nouns can also be countable nouns or non countable nouns. The second theme is on adjectives which have the function of describing the noun and they are used in comparisons. Thirdly, an article says something about a noun and their are two types: definite and indefinite articles. On the one hand, indefinite articles and are used with singular nouns. For example a and an. On the other hand, definite articles are used Before nouns that are in the singular or the plural. The fourthly theme on verbs informs the leaner that verbs can be divided into transitive verbs and intransitive verbs. A transitive verb is followed by an object and the intransitive verb is the opposite. In the English language verbs can be divided into four main forms: base form, past simple, past participle, and present participle. The last relevant aspect of verbs is that there are also auxiliary verbs. Fifthly, adverbs add meaning to verbs and are usually placed after the object. Moreover, the sixth part of speech are the gerunds which is the ing form on a verb but used as a noun. Another part of speech are the pronouns and they simply replace nouns. There are different types of pronouns. Last but not least, prepositions "show the relationship between a noun and a pronoun"" and conjunctions join ""words or groups in a sentence""."
