Being a native speaker, I know how to form sentences without thinking about the parts of speech, so a lot of this material dealt with names of the parts of speech that I regularly use, but don't necessarily know how to define. This unit went into detail about well known parts of speech such as verbs and adjectives, but also lesser know parts such as gerunds and the different types of pronouns. Being a teacher of English to native speakers, the class tends to revolve about literary analysis. This review was very helpful, because I definitely had to brush up on my ability to explain why the language works the way it does with actual terms instead of examples. I can imagine it will be even more helpful when explaining how English works to people for whom English is a second or third language.
