In this unit, we covered the various parts of speech of the English language. Although I use every part of speech consistently in everyday life, it was interesting to review and relearn them specifically. More importantly, it was necessary for me to review and relearn the parts of speech, as there are many categories, subcategories, and rules that apply to each individually. From a personal standpoint, although (as I said previously) I utilize all of the subject matter seen this unit daily and know what the parts of speech are, I'm not sure if I could have specifically and directly defined and stated them with confidence to myself, let alone others. For example, I use gerunds in sentence structures frequently, but couldn't even tell you its specific Name or definition. For this reason, this unit was necessary and crucial in my journey to becoming a teacher and will undoubtedly assist when I utilize and teach the material to students that are learning the English language.
