I learned a lot about the proper names of the parts of speech that I would have otherwise overlooked. As a native speaker of English I simply know how to use the words without really paying attention to what each part of speech is called. I was more confused than I expected with transitive and intransitive verbs. I found this unit to be a great way as a reintroduction to English grammar for those of us who have not thought about it since we were learning it ourselves. I am actually surprised at how much I remembered. This unit is great for giving a foundation of grammatical knowledge to build upon in future units. This portion was very helpful for breaking down the various aspects of language that seem daunting. I felt that I learned the most about the more uncommon pieces like gerunds, the differences between adjectives, and differences between verbs. This was a good refresher over important parts of speech that can be sometimes tricky.
