This unit dealt with the different parts of speech in English. I learned English as a second language while growing up, as french is my mother language. I went to school and spoke in French. However, my mother was a native speaker of English so she always spoke to me in English (I would speak French to her) and I would also watch TV and listen to music in English. Because of those reasons, classes of English as a second language were very easy for me during school. As such, I never really learned all the parts of speech correctly. I knew them more by instinct, as I suspect many native English speakers do. This unit has helped me greatly to differentiate the different kinds of parts of speech. It has also helped me reflect and compare with the parts of speech in French.
