As someone with no academic or esl teaching experience, this course was a valuable introduction to what esl teaching is about. Lesson planning and devising games and activities for students is completely new to me. This course has at least given me some ideas about how to think of these subjects and how to use them in the best way for my students. I see how important engaging students are.
Being a native english speaker, I have obviously been exposed to a range of grammatical and phonetic terms and rules as well as vocabulary. In a way, I have been reintroduced to learning about my own language again. Some aspects of phrases I vocalize every day, such as conditionals and the passive voice, are new to me.
